Hello from Korea!

Hi everyone! I'm writing this from Korea. We just wanted to give everyone an update on our trip. We left for Korea on Tuesday and arrived on Wednesday. It was a long flight. The first thing the next full business day (Thursday) we met our little boy for the first time. Minsoo is so big! It was surreal to see him. He has been very well cared for by his foster mom and it is very clear they are close and have a strong bond. Minsoo can walk! He climbs on everything and he is pretty calm. His foster mom says he loves to eat and his favorite food is cheese ( sweet! We can be cheese mates)! He sleeps from 9 to 9 and is a good sleeper. She says he is a very good boy. He says piggy back (ride) uh ma and ump (mommy and daddy). he was not to exited to be on my lap for long, but giggled and smiled when Paul lifted him up in the air. We can't wait to see him again on Wednesday. Hopefully we will find a way to post a picture. He's really cute!!

I have had enough of being patient

My patience has run out officially today. Recieved our call that our paperwork has gone to the US embassy. Yeah! Which was very quickly clouded by the news that travel time has extended to 4-5 weeks now. 1 month ago it was 3-7 days, then we were told 3 weeks, then last week we were told 2 weeks and today 4-6. i am frustrated beyond words. I debated even posting based on the rule of "don't say anything unless you have something nice to say", but feel I needed to vent. so I am venting! For this moment I am not going to look at the bright side, I am not going to explain to myself why this much time is needed or we keep getting conflicting information. I am just going to be in the moment of thinking this is not fun, this is not exciting, this is not what I thought it would be like to go through this journey.

Luckily, tomorrow is a new day and I can go back to my usual "think of the bright side self"!

Dear Minsoo

Today is a very special day. One year ago today you were born. We are sorry we cannot be there with you today. Some parents wait 9 months to bring their child home, we have waited over 4 years for you and are excited to bring you home.

We wonder what you are doing today and if you are celebrating Dolijabee. Of the things placed in front of you, did you pick up the thread (long life), the jujubee (many descendants), book or pencil (become a scholar) or money, rice or rice cakes (wealth)?

Tonight we celebrated your special day at a Korean restaurant with your grandma and grandpa Taylor. Your grandma and grandpa Welter sent birthday wises to you too. You are very loved.

Our wish for you is that you are loved and feel love, you are happy and are safe from harm.

Know that we are with you in heart and spirit.  We love you so very much and can not wait to meet you.

Love,
mommy and daddy

Three little birds

When I woke up this morning there were three little birds sitting on the deck. Could it be a symbol of whats in our near future? I like to think so :)

6 weeks

If all goes well we get to go get minsoo in 6 weeks. Our paperwork has moved to the s korean ministry and will then go to the us embassy. We have been given an estimate of 6 weeks until travel to go get him- we are relieved and excited!!

The next few weeks we will spend getting ready at work, home and preparing for the trip.

We plan on being in s korea for 10 days and I plan on taking a full three months of work off for bonding. I am looking forward to get to know him during my time off and happy we will be able to be outside together in the warm weather!!

Traci will be coming with us too. S korea- is going to be a fun, yet emotional trip.

I am currently in london right now, but already have a list of todos when I get home!

Phew! I think this may be real...can't wait to see how we change!
