Today we received approval from Homeland security to adopt from Korea! For those of you not familiar with what this means, don't get too excited. It is part of the adoption process where we have to file a petition with Homeland Security to adopt a child from a specific country. They take our fingerprints and match them against the FBI files and they look for any records from any place we have ever lived to verify we have no criminal records. Then we wait for 4 months for this news to say we are approved. We are pretty boring people in that way and assumed it would come back with flying colors, but we have heard stories where someone had something in their past or was mistaken for someone else where this paperwork got caught up.
It is small, but still a small sense of relief to have gotten this paper work and know we have passed this hurdle.
